For the first year in the program's history, our team has earned a spot to compete in the American Mock Trial Association’s (AMTA) National Championship Tournament (NCT), hosted this year by UCLA in Los Angeles. Since its inception in 2007, the UK Mock Trial Team has represented the university at mock trial competitions across the country. There are over 600 undergraduate teams in the United States, and this year, UK Mock Trial is one of only 48 teams to earn a coveted spot at the NCT, putting UK among the top 8% of teams nationwide. To achieve this feat, our mock trial team finished our Regional tournament in St. Louis, Missouri with a near perfect record and then went on to place in the top six teams of the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) in Memphis, Tennessee. UK Mock Trial is primarily a student-run and student-coached program, and the countless hours our members devote to this organization is what made this historic achievement possible.
The mock trial team at UK is the most effective program the university offers for aspiring-attorneys to prepare themselves for a legal career while still an undergraduate student. Mock trial competitors learn a slightly adapted version of the Federal Rules of Evidence, practice courtroom procedure, and write witness examinations. Mock Trial allows students to refine their public speaking, communication, and critical thinking abilities, skills that will be useful not only to students who choose to pursue careers litigation but will benefit them in whatever professional path they may take.
Unfortunately, our team faces a severe lack of funding. At this time, we have virtually no money with which to fund this expensive trip to LA. We are incredibly proud of the historic success that this team has achieved, and we would hate for funding to stand in our way. Any amount donated will be spent solely on travel, lodging, and printing expenses.

If your firm or business would like to become an official sponsor of UK Mock Trial and aid in our journey to nationals, please contact Lauren Williams at 859-893-4258 or [email protected]. As an official sponsor of the UK Mock Trial Team, your organization would receive advertisement on our website, social media pages, and at the 7th Annual UK High School Mock Trial Invitational Tournament. We thank you in advance for your support! Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to further legal education and to represent UK and the Commonwealth of Kentucky on a national platform.
